Like so many other science-fiction films of the 21st century, the director seems dead-set on advocating for a communist society. This is so over-the-top pandering to the radfems' agenda of male genocide that I was actually very surprised a major Hollywood production kept it in the script. This film constantly straight up tells the audience that "men killed the world", that all men are any good for is being "bloodbags" for strong women warriors (that still somehow need Max the man) and that (seriously) all women are perfect, wise, beautiful goddesses that are the embodiment of goodness. Now, I know a lot of Reddit feminists will think I am whining and that I should stop being such a weak-ass fuckface, but come on. Secondly: The blatant and constant misandry (hatred of men).

How is this pandering to feminists?! I thought feminists wanted women to be portrayed as equal to men, not dependent on them. Max is supposed to protect a bunch of very pretty (but useless) women trying to escape an evil warlord. So why was I let down? (spoilers ahead, btw)įirst off, the whole film (literally, the whole fucking film) is one long damsel in distress trope. So even though I was expecting some political pandering, I was looking forward to seeing a Mad Max film with cool female characters. However, I too am sick to death of women in film 99% of the time either being cast as the love interest of the protagonist, the damsel in distress or powerless victims. I had read quite a lot about the film's supposed strong female roles and its feminist appeal, and me not being a feminist I was sceptical about such characteristics. Mad Max: Fury Road was, to me, a big disappointment.
